i am really stuggling to work out how much it would cos for me to buy and run my own trailer for my horse?

i have a vehicle that would pull it

if i brought a trailer for around £800, it only has to be functional i dont mind painting and doing it up a bit.

how much would it cos for me to insure? , tax so on

i dont really understand what i need to do.

or does anybody know anywhere in lincolnshire i can hire a trailer from

Apart from maintenance not too much, I've got IF HB511 and I think I pay about £100 a year for insurance, I just added it to my horse policy.

Breakdown cover - I am with the RAC and took out horse trailer assist which was about £45 a year I think.

Servicing is about £200 in my area, Cheshire, you could probably get it done much cheaper.

Extra fuel costs as lower mpg when towing

Edited to say - all my costs are in the 4x4!

It won't cost you anything other than the maintainance of the tyres/bodywork/brakes etc, if it's a cheap trailer beware the floor, often that's the weakest point and having heard of several horses going through the floor and having to be euthanised as a result, often replacing the floor is a wise move.
Insurance can be added to your household insurance, you don't need tax.

You need to do an extra driving test to tow a trailer if you passed your driving test after 1st Jan 1997 so you may need to budget for this too depending on when you passed your test.

ok thanks this gives me a better idea of what it is going to cost.

trailer + possibly some insurance +some maintance
around a 1000 if i can find a trailer with a good floor.
im only 20 so my mum will do that driving as i can drive trailers

thank u
