Trailer

I have been researching them this morning, there is a company 110 miles away i think and I think it will be worth a look
I think you’re in Scotland, I know it’s a bit down the line but if you go to the Royal Highland Show they’ve had Chevals on display for the last few years. Ifors are there too. Blair seems to only have Equi treks and maybe Ifors, can’t quite remember.

At the Highland they’re adjacent to the top arena where they do show jumping/working hunter. At Blair they’re on a corner, somewhere! I think if you walk back down from the international grass arenas down to the middle arena (not the ones at the entrance), there’s normally a few big horseboxes and some salesmen trying to capture you!

The only person that was trying to capture my friend was a solicitor offering free wills…..

Little did she know at first it was over 50s only … she was very offended 😂😂😂

Chevals are very flimsily built compared to the Ifors. They are much prettier though.

The whole shiny black front nose section is thin single skinned plastic, not even strong enough to take a cctv camera being screwed to it. That info is direct from the main Cheval dealer in Corwen - we went there to view them and asked him about how to fit an internal camera.

The breast and breech bar clips are flimsy, too.

We went fully intending to place an order, and left empty handed. I wouldn’t travel a horse in one even if offered a lift.

I'm just mightily relieved his preference is the one I actually purchased! 🙈
I was going to hire one just for the day just to see for size . But the only one round here is a 506 and that will be too small.
The lady who owns the yard has a 510 but I wouldn’t put a hamster in it😂

When I was looking for a trailer I got so fed up with the amount of scammers I decided to suck it up and just spend a bit more to go to a dealership.
Definitely worth it. Mine is used but came fully refurbished with all new wall panels and floor for about 500 more than I was looking to pay for a private sale used trailer.
But the other benefit is a reputable dealer should always let you hire as a test drive before you buy so might be worth a thought 🙂

That sounds like a good idea!

510s are excellent trailers, I’ve got one, but they are getting long in the tooth now. Production ended in 2008. Unless it came with a trustworthy service history I strongly recommend getting it checked out by a competent person. The side panels and ramps need special attention, but they can be replaced if necessary.

Im so chuffed my trailer is completely immaculate , just one wee knock on the inside at the bars and the wheels need a wee tart up and full service history , it has never had a horse in it it has been bought from new to store two mobility scooters , kept in storage until the last two months when the gentleman lost his storage. It is a 2004… ill get better pictures in the daylight.IMG_3191.jpeg

Nice, lucky buy. Check the age of the tyres before you take it anywhere.
Its got quite new tyres on it but hubby is going to take them off and rub my wheels back and spray them too so will all be checked before the boy goes in it 😊

Bateson. Love them. Ive never had anything else. We always go for the Ascot version and have had various horses including 17.2hh's in it no problem. Its a lightweight trailer and tows really well. Theyre quite hard to get hold of though I think, especially second hand as people hold onto them forever!

I just wanted to mention that my cheval mate and foal trailer was picked up and thrown around by a tornado and amazingly the nose cone and roof were unscathed. Chassis irreparably damaged. Ifor double next to it also chucked around.
