Hi there,

This might be a stupid question but how do people transport general kit for travelling in a trailer? E.g bucket, skip for poop, water container etc...Do you bungee tie it or something? Do you keep a muck skip in the back for collecting poop? Or somewhere else?

Will keep tack and riding kit in the car..Just trying to work out logistics! Thanks
 
I have a tack locker (continental trailer tho). I have a trug for poo/bedding, and a brush. OH cut the handle down to half the length so it fits nicely. Brush and bag of pellets sit inside the trug when not in use. Second trug for water, plus a water container which again sits in the trug. Then there's just room for a bale of haylege underneath the saddle and bridle racks. I do love my tack locker!

Oh and a hammer in case of emergency...
 
I don't have room for a tack locker unfortunately, I've got a wessex trailer and there isn't a lot of space up the front. Will have to think of something else!
 
i tow with defender so no seats in back.
so everything goes in the boot. Including poop scoop much to my OH’s dismay.

i don’t like the thought of everything rattling around in the back of the trailer, I can imagine not tying something down correctly.
 
I have a brush and poop a scooper tied by a bungee tie to the front of my trailer ( inside ) I have also secured water ther before now , but mostly keep it in the boot of my car.

This what I do. A friend sticks her poop scoop in an old feed sack and puts it in her boot.

One of the rubber boot liners are a godsend with travelling horse kit. (And stops the husband moaning too much !)
 
I have a big old feed tub with a lid for poo and a dustpan and brush for sweeping it up which fits inside
Once the lid is on it's not too offensive to have in the back of the car

This is exactly why I'm asking as OH would probably have a heart attack if I tried to put the poop scoop in the boot :D We have a liner for our boot but I think I'd also have to double bag it or something!!
 
if your horse is in one side of the trailer - on the basis you use a partition - can you get a cargo net attached to the other side? I have this in the front of the horse area of my lorry and put all those sort of things behind it. Hope that makes sense.
 
I use a little storage box with a lid and a metal dustpan and brush inside that goes in the boot of car along with a camping foldable water container and bucket. Tack goes in tack locker.
 
I have a folding steps at the front of my trailer, the muck scoop fits perfectly inside them, just tight enough for it to be wedged inside the sides of the steps so it can't move. I then have the rake inside the scoop with the handle in front of the steps. I bungy the steps to the front and nothing moves. Everything else goes in the car. If you have an IW, you can get brackets for water carriers that fit on the outside, on the shelf at the back.

My trailer is permanently set up with the partition 3/4 v 1/4 with the 3/4 in the horses favour. Its actually like a tardis in there.

So that remaining 1/4 is set up with brackets that hold my stepladders that Dad modified with a box that fixes to the top of it and some hooks to keep a broom and a shovel in. I also have a water container and empty tub trug buckets (one for sponging down and eventually poo before loading for the way home and one for drinking water). I can also carry a spare hay net in that side.

The buckets won't slide, blimey you'd have to be driving like a rally driver for them to move skid on a rubber matting.
 
I have a door mounted tack pack. I put my tack in the car and put skip with coal shovel, bucket, sponges etc in the tack pack. I put a water carrier in the nose of the trailer and when the door is closed the tack pack holds it in place.

trying to persuade OH to buy me a defender for towing but he wants a nice shiny fancy car. I’ve tried telling him that it makes no sense to have a fancy car for horse stuff. I forgot about taking the poop scoop. Will drop this in next time. ?

Thats such a good idea! Is it part of your trailer or did you buy it as an extra?
