on a FB group,someone has put up a picture of their 4 yo riding/mini-jumping a pony in trainers,think I am the only person who thought this irresponsible and commented.
seems I am in the wrong as riding schools allow it (!!!)

I suppose if an adult chooses to do this that is their choice but I am horrified at people risking their children.

Of course it's irresponsible, it shocks me the amount of numpty parents out there!!

I have ridden at several riding schools over my life and not one of them would allow trainers for riding at all. Even wellies fairly frowned upon. The likes of Decathlon mean you can get suitable footwear very cheaply if needs be.

My mother has a riding school, any new parent is told children must have shoes with heels, any child turning up without suitable footwear is not allowed to ride ( or Mum sent home to get more shoes).
When I was a child most would ride in their 'outdoor' school shoes, usually brown/black laceups.

I've ridden once in trainers and I found it really hard!! It was at a trekking centre in Wales and I must have looked like such a novice I usually never ride in anything but riding boots, but I had forgotten my boots and was desperate to ride.
