They are both in Glos and a long way from south wales.

The Broomes teach.

There is also a dressage trainer who goes to the Prices in Monmouth.... at the mo I cant think of her name, but think its the lady who runs catherson stud.... Might be open clinics....?

Also if you are down towards Chepstow, Lizzel Winter teaches just outside there and she is very good, especially on the flat IMHO. She's an FBHS and an event rider so she knows her stuff.

I can echo that Helen Evans has a very good reputation, Gemma Gooding and Julia Wanson are also excellent, they are both slightly closer to Newport than Haverford is. Actually Wales is crawling with good trainers, I just can't remember many off the top of my head. Fat lot of good I am.

Ros Bevan is Abergavenny way.
Katie Williams (or may be price will rack brains for you) is Usk way she is an eventer who also has taken various BHS exams.

Matt Ryan is not miles away either.

Echo what you say about the Broomes!

I know it is not near wales. She does clinics in the area, and I am mistaken, it isn't Jennie, it is Lizzie as mentioned previously. She isn't based in Wales either, but teaches in Monmouth, and at the Catherson stud.

He's there monthly now. As is Pammy at Pontcanna, Paul Ingram does both and the instructors Coedcae mentions live here so you just need to contact them direct.
You could also join a riding club

The only thing that's slightly puts me off trying Lizzel is that i had a lesson with Eric on my friends youngester who is natually a very tense horse, and there was a group jump lesson going on at the same time, and they were jumping down a grid just off the track so all we could do while their lesson was going on was trot and canter round the edge of the school with her exploding everytime we went down the side with the grid as a horse was jumping it, once there lesson was finished were were then able to pop over some jumps. I did find Eric very good, and not sure if this the usual situation with lessons there, but didn't like the idea that for the first half hour all i could do was ride round the edge of the school (wasn't allowed to circle as i would have been blocking the horses jumping).

I didn't realise's he's gone to monthly there now, but i've got a lesson with him there at the end of November so i'll enquire then. When i enquired at Pontcanna about the clinic's they did there they said there was no spaces as they're always filled with there regulars and i know that it's very hard to get a slot with someone like Pammy.

I have (or was having when I wasnt working a million hours a week!) flat lessons with Rachel Struel...
and used to have Eric Winter for jump but would rather use Ros Bevan now

Where in South Wales are you? We have Jemma Gooding every week, she lives near Lampeter and travels to Carmarthen, Neath, Ammanford and most other places in the area. I know she is very busy, but if you want more info please let me know. She competes up to Inter I.

Sorry to hijack for a minute but who is Gemma Gooding? I'm not far from Lampeter and not heard of her- what does she teach?

Sorry to hijack

Jemma teaches whatever you want, but dressage/flat work is her forte. She managed to get three happy hackers from our yard to Dressage Champs of GB (Broomies) in September, but altogether there must have been around 30 of her clients there. Cant praise her enough for her ability to teach. She lives in Caeo, about 5 miles from Lampeter.
