Hi. I have a rising 4 year old mare and she is my first baby and i would really appreciate some advice.
She was broken as a rising 3 year old during lockdown and then was turned away for the summer. She came back into work in october and i bought her in november. I then did work on her from november until may, she was given a few weeks off every now and again during that period. In may i turned her out for 6 weeks and today is her first day back in. I was thinking to do some work with her for june and then leave her off for july and august as i am going to france at the end of july.
She is a warmblood cross and i am so worried about ruining her. What do i do, should i leave her off? Shes the horse of my dreams and i just dont want to rush her
I attachted some pictures for reference

Your plan sounds fine- I wouldn’t be worried about working her quietly until you go away. Mine has been back in work since March and he won’t have a proper break again until September.
Like you, I give him a week or 2 off here and there but I'm keen to keep building a bit more muscle and strength and to keep his weight down as well.

Thank you! Its just that i feel she hasnt had a proper break since last summer and she has worked so hard.

How hard is she working? Mine works 4 days a week currently, normally for about 25mins with occasional longer sessions. He will work 5 days a week in July/ August but that will be primarily hacking.

Im planning on doing some schooling and hacking, i have a dressage clinic monday which will be really good to improve her suppleness. Like 30m 4 times a week but the work varies. Do you think she looks relatively devolped
