Hello community, I have found a lovey colt I am very interested in, he is 11 months. I have a lot of experience riding and producing horses from 4 yo +. However, I want to have a go from scratch, I was wondering if anyone could just outline success stories, when they have introduced things and what has worked really well, and maybe what hasn't, hehe! Also very interested in hearing about best ways to travel younger horses for a positive experiences and views on having them in herds for the first part of their life etc: (avoiding development of anxiety and so they can be fairly happy in own company, i know for some horses it is just innate) I am very interested in the 'bomb proofing' stage and how early this has started to result in a fairly sensible horse! hehe, we have alot of bikes and dirt bikes so needs to be fairly solid around them. He is a Welsh x and small so not going mad buying a baby warmblood that will grow to 17.2hh ++++

Firm believer in slow and steady, giving the time and setting them up for success! Really looking for positive supportive replies! Thanks everyone :)

From Birth to Backing is a good book. As is The Fearless Horse. I used those to help me take a barely handled 2 year old fell pony through to unaff eventing at 5. And she became a lovely calm confident pony. Good luck with it. It's very rewarding.
