.
Nan has a 5 year old AlsationXLabrador, Dog is great in almost everyway. But has one big downfall. He has a ball, on a rope that when hes let off we throw for him, and we also have a chase round the garden with him etc. We can not for the life of us get him to let go on command. Ive been playing with him, Taking it off of him giving him a huge fuss and feeding him a small treat. Am I doing the right thing and/or do any of you guys have any tips advice?

Thanks!
Nick

It'll be a little bit difficult as hes not a pup but he'll soon catch on.
With my dog I say the command "Give". To teach him he used to get a little treat and then it was thrown for him. He soon caught on that if he gives it it'll be thrown.
If he won't give you it ignore him for a bit, then try again. He'll soon learn that it you won't throw it for him if he won't give it to you.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

For future reference, just remember that a toy never belongs to a dog, it belongs to you and you are free to take it at any time.

He is actually playing the game with you, and he always wins if you let him 'win' the ball.

Missshell's advice is good.
