How many times should a 3-4 yo be ridden if already backed lightly and easy temperament? Had recent experience with dressage trainer that rode horse in training only 1-2 times per week over 10 week period and said she did in-hand work and lunged it on other days. Is this reasonable? Trainer could not explain exactly what was done in-hand. I visited him regularly and never had any idea he wasn't being ridden at least 4 times per week. He was easy to back 3 months prior to going and could lunge in an open field. At end of nearly three months lovely beautiful rider who was contracted in to ride him said "Yes he's lovely and so easy!! I've only ridden him 15 times! Trainer said she only rode 3times. Would you request a refund?
