Training my pony..

I have a 7 year old dartmoor gelding who i want to eventually compete (dressage), i've not long had him and he's still getting used to the way i ride but im not sure how to train him properly, someone point me in the right direction?
Also, does anyone have any ideas how i can make schooling more interesting for him?

I havent got an answer for pointing you in the right direction, it seems to me your riding in the right direction already

However i do have an answer for aking schooling fun. Try lateral work, raised pole work, maybe even try a couple of dressage tests (try a Prix Caprilli) or do free schooling
