Hello, I'm pretty new to the forums, but I've been in the sport for a while, but I'm a first time horse owner. I rather recently bought a young TB gelding and I'm kind of stuck, training-wise. He's been vet checked and has no health issues that would cause this behavior. Essentially, he's fairly cuddly and nice, but often has moments where he, seemingly out of nowhere, gets super tense and tries to either bite or kick everyone near him. For example, he'll approach me in the field (no bribery or me going to him, I'm just at the gate) and once he gets close, he pins his ears back, gets super tense in the face and then goes to bite me (has even succeeded once but not since, I learned my lesson). He also often turns his hind to me and has actually tried to kick me once. He generally does this to everyone in his vicinity, not just me. He's also super cranky with other horses. The only time he's super polite and well behaved is if I bring his tack out to ride him, otherwise he's a jerk. What do I do?
