I am doing a sponsored ride on the 29th April, it’s 15 miles long with plenty of opportunity to canter and optional jumps. There is a half way stop ( half way through

) I just wondered if anyone could help devise a training plan for him. At the moment he can handle 7 miles fine at the average pace I want to be doing . Is 9 weeks too little time to get him fit enough :S. I only found out today so I couldn’t stair any earlier

. At the moment it is only really possible to ride at weekend but when the clocks go forward I hope to be riding 4 or 5 times a week. So any training plans or general advice to do with training or the ride would be greatly appreciated

You will be fine for that don't worry! Just make sure you do the two rides per week at a decent distance and try to increase it slowly over the period between now and the ride. Do plenty of trot work at a good steady pace as this will build stamina. Don't increase pace and distance together...just do one at a time. For a 15 mile ride you need to aim to have completed a ride at at least 13 miles before the event at the pace you want to do the ride at.
When the clocks change and you can get out more, just get out for a good hours hack a few times during the week at the pace you are aiming for along with your longer weekend rides. Don't daudle along in walk...make sure he walks out well.
For the ride itself, take it steady...don't go tearing off at the start cantering everywhere and jumping everything in sight...not saying you would but I have seen it many times!!! Take it steady as you did in training and enjoy the ride!
