trakehner breeders help apprecciated

I don't know many on the mothers side but Donauwind and Flaneur are very well known and fashionable lines.

TFB this weekend isn't it!

Am i right in thinking that Romarnic ranger failed his Trakehner grading which is why he is now registered with AHS although i think that he is 25% arab which should give you enough arab to register the foal PBA

you are too clever in guessing the stallion sally,i am a little concerned that he didn't pass his trakehner grading too
and to be honest is the only thing putting me off him so far.
but if you look on the trakehner web sites compared to other breeds there aren't very many stallions so i'd say grading is difficult.
i am also concerned that if the foal is reg part bred that may put some buyers off although thanks to tamirillo that is now changing.
i am thinking of using him over my cob and maybe the irish mare?

The trakehners are the hardest and most strict grading wise! They wouldn't pass Goddington Hannibal because of his feet but when he did so well in competition they graded him on that.

He is quite smart and has a lovely front my only thing would be that he trails his hocks out behind him so would be careful which mare i put him to as this is a fault that always seems to pass on.

If you use a graded Trak stallion then the foal is eligible for PB pprs along with the brand, (though on mine you can hardly see it). If you use an AA you will have a PBA which means you are eligible to show in reg PBA classes which seem to appear at most shows. You need to see what the stallion throws when put to your type of mare. I thought it a real shame that only 4 yearlings were forward for the PB Trak's & that dropped to 3 as I pulled mine. One thing your guaranteed of is a rosette!

Ask Volatis as I think she is now looking after the PB register, so may be of more help.

Any foal can be registered part bred as long as it is 25% Trakehner blood, which his foals would be.
Never seen him in the flesh so cant comment on him. Contis appeals a lot on pedigree and apparently was very impressive at Neumunster last year at his licensing. I especially like his sire Interconti

What are you looking to add to/improve on your mare? What are her strengths and weaknesses and what do you want the foal to do eventually?

well to be honest i am a hobby breeder who does not have the quality of mares that a lot do on here and maybe you and others will think that i shouldn't breed my mares as they aren't world beaters but people also want good allrounder with a bit more too.

i have a hackney mare that is not papered but very nice quality and jump she throws a lot of quality in her foals

also a tbxish mare who i feel is lacking on her backend and needs more movement,i personally am not that keen on the foal i got from the tb stallion so am willing to look elsewhere
may try a AA

and tally my favourite little coloured cob who is a fantastic mare she does all i ask of her and gives 110%
she is very slightly pigeon toed which makes her dish slightly but to be honest i am not sure that i will breed her as
a) worried something may happen to her,she is my baby
b)worried she may end up a mismatch of the two crosses so think i mustn't go far away from her type
c) love her to bits but think that she doesn't warrent a high stud fee as i won't be getting money back in the foal-not the right words but i hope you know what i am trying to say

see my pictures if you'd like

thank you
on and i really like contis's sire more than him even.

Sponeck is very well bred & scored well in his grading. The downside is he has never stood at a commerical stud in the UK & so has been little used. He does though seem to stamp his stock. This is a son who I think is in Denmark & is a full Trak competiting dressage

His breeding

There are plenty of photos on here of they foal/yearling that he sire ex of a WelshxQH mare. He is approved as you will have seen on the website. He changed owners this year, & they should be updating this by next year. He has a lovely temperment which also seems to pass on. He had another PB yearling at the TBF show on Saturday who came 2nd & again he showed a strong likeness to Sponeck.

I dont think Sponeck will be that much now, his fee dropped from 800 or 850 cant remember to 450 & I think next year it will be a little lower then that. I know what you mean though I had to take that into account when I was looking at breeding from Mo. With no pprs it was hardly worth using Coolcorron Cool Diamond who is about 1500!! And as breeding is just a huge lottery I could never justify that.

I will see if I can get the tel nbr for you, there is someone at the yard that has lessons with him. I did have the nbr when Sponeck was with Louise Cassidy, but Michael has moved to his own yard now.
