I have a gorgeous skewbald gelding that I bought as unknown breeding (possibly polish) through the sale's. I was brushing him last week and found his brand numbers.. He has 21 on his right saddle area and 722 on the left. I contacted the polish horse association and they told me he was bred at the polish national stud and is mostly Trakehner. His sire is a coloured Trakehner stallion called Gosler. I have managed to find his lineage but cant find any sport reference to Gosler. Can anyone help me? Ben.

Did they tell you which National Stud? Was it Liski? Nowielice?. I will look up some info for you in a minute

If this is the same stallion (I presume it is as Golser is a skewbald stallion owned by Stallion boarding at Starogard Gdanski and used on WLKP mares (WLKP is a breed created using mostly Trakheners (from the region of Germany - the Prussia - that used to be Polish), Polish TBs, and some continental lines as fashion dictates).
from a brief look I can see there are some horses with Gosler in their pedigree on the Polish show jumping circuit.

If you tell me the name of the dam I might get you more info

Plekity was one of the best studs in Poland breeding WLKP horses (basically another name for Polish Trakheners). Gosler was a popular stallion in the nineties but some say it was because better stallions were all being sold abroad (doesn't mean he was bad though!)

If I remember correctly the numbers you discover mean: right side - breed number and the number of the Stud Book, left side: individual number of the foal.
Your boy's individual number then is 722 (I was ones told it would mean he was a 722th foal born in the stud but don't quote me on this!) and 21 would be the number the Stud or Breeding Society would have recognised his breeding by. It indicates the Stud Book number.

Found some more horses sired by Gosler doing fairly well at Polish Show Jumping Champs in 2005 and 2006

What do you do with your boy?

Trying to find some pictures of his parents for you but no luck

I put a thread on a Polish Forum asking if someone has any. If I hear anything I will let you know.

The dam's name is more likely to be Acza. Will look her up too:)

I found this which you may have seen before:

Stallion Karkas (Gosler's grandad) sired many show jumpers in Poland.

Thanks.. I take it you speak Polish? Yes it's Acza.. I bought his around X-mas from the sales for 1400 quid. He is a 10yo and I dont think he had ever been ridden before. We had to start him from the beginning... He is now like a just backed 4yo.. lol He has a gorgeous trot and loves to loose jump. He is a hot bugger tho, tried hunting him and his brain was fried. Maybe we will show him in coloured classes since he is a handsome fella.. Do you have a trak?

Yes, I used to have a lot to do with trakheners when I lived in Poland - had my own and worked with young stallions send for grading. In Poland they are called TBs of the wormblood world and they are one of my favorites.
Oh, and yes, I do speak Polish - it's my mother tounge
