Anyone planning to go to the Trakehner stallion keuring and aution next week in Neumunster?

Catalogue looks very interesting this year and on first read seems to be more strong jumping blood represented than usual. I think the colt I am most looking forward to seeijng is the Le Rouge x Friedensfurst colt whose dam is a half sister to 2010 stallion of the year Buddenbrock. I love le Rouge's offspring so this looks an exciting combination.
For eventersthe Grafenstolz x Stan the Man colt I hope is a nice one but not a mother line I know so well.

Others I like the sound of, a Kaiserkult x Suchard from the same mother line as Le Rouge, and kaiserkult's full brother is in the line up too (Van Deyk x Gajus)

in the foal auction is a Fleetwater Opposition grandson by Tycoon so cvant wait to see if that colt does well as that is obviously a very British influenced pedigree

All starts next thursday and having missed my flight there last year, I am so excitied!

Oooh, I would LOVE to see Kaiserkult's full brother!! I *love* Kaiserkult. Will you take lots of notes for me, please?

We had a stunning 5yo stallion with Stan the Man on the dam's side at this year's auction. He had previously won the Suddeutsche Korung and is by Metteur x Stan the Man x Mephisto -- sold for over 80k !!

Incidentally Stan the Man xx also sired the eventers Shear H20 and Shear L'eau so I bet that one will be a super exciting eventing prospect!

I am going too ...................can't wait and i am hopefully going on a bit of mare shopping beforehand so even better!

I agree about the Le Rouge Friedenfurst and i like the Gribaldi x buddenbrock full brother to last years reserve champ who i loved. Also facinated to see the Easy Game x Tuareg.

look forward to seeing you there

I have three picks

#2 Kandahar by EH Beg xx - I've seen his prep video and he's pretty nice.

#11 Botticino by Freudenfest great dam line and one of my favorite stallions

and

#13 Poker Man by Grafenstolz TSF - bred to be an eventing machine

I'd love to go to Neumunster, but as it involves getting on a 'plane, I'll have to make do with watching on TV instead. ;)

Can any of you lovely knowledgeable people tell me if it would be best to drive from Belgium or go by train? Is it far from the nearest station, and is there anywhere nice nearby to stay saturday night you can recommend if we decide to go? Thanks

Humm, as for driving, well I know it took us 6 hours to drive here from Ostend, and we are 3 hours south of Neumunster. Obviously you would drive a bit straight but I cant see it being less than 6 hours, depending where in belguim you are. Good roads though.

Doesnt say anything in the catalogue about trains but the verband office would tell you and they are very helpful if you email them.Loads of hotels in Neumunster. the prisma is right next door to the Holstenhalle but probably already booked.

Other ones listed incoludes
Einfelder Hof, Firlaff's Hotel, Friedrichs, Kiek In, Neues Parkhotel
I am sure if you google through lastminute.com or similar you can book something.

Well it was fabulous! The Sayonara filly really moved but was small and light of bone, but I still lover her!

Will do a detailed write up for the Horse Breeders magazine now I have a PC again but needless to say I am more in love with this wonderful breed than ever. My personal favourite was the Interconti colt His Time, elegant, long limbed, athletic, big trot, ground covering canter (wow he could open up and cover the gorund), beautiful attitude. For sure he is one I want to use and Klosterhof Medigen bought him so they are a great stud to work with.

We didn't make it there, Volatis (bit too short 'notice' to get organised!) but we are definitely planning to go next year, with another Trakehner owner here, and anybody else who wants to come. Looking forward to it already!!

Ah sayonara filly would have suited me as I need a small one
but it has made me realise that all the le rouge es all seem to really move and are liked so be would be a potential sire possibly if I cod have a bay fillyplease?

Le Rouge certainly stamps his stock. I can spot one from 50 yards away now. LOL! I've got a Le Rouge filly from his first crop. She's a bay, 4 years old and 16.2 and a total sweetheart. Having seen others by him I'd definitely use him as a stallion but I'd be careful to use him on a laid back mare. Quite a few of his offspring are a bit sharp, not in a bad way just in an energetic and sensitive way.

My mare is not for the faint of heart, you have to concentrate on her 100% of the time you're riding. She isn't naughty and she isn't particularly spooky but she is an awful lot of very athletic horse with an engine bigger than a Ferrari. I love her to pieces and wouldn't swap her for the world but I am aware that she is at the limits of my riding ability and I trained my previous horse to PSG! The athleticism of the Trakehners is a real eye opener.

I thknk the le Rouge offspring are a lot like him, they show a lot of fire under saddle but are actually total sweathearts. Le Rouge can really turn the spark on and off as required. he is a superb stallion, no doubt.

trakehnersrock - I am in the Neidersachsen Muhlen, or it might google as Oldenburg area. The Trakehner february stallion show is held at Munster handorf. You can fly Air Berlin (I think it is) to Munster airport, or Ryanair to bremen (which is a bit further away). Its on 11tha nd 12th, but the 11th is just about the Spring licensing which doesnt have many colts forward. There are usually some people flying to it from the UK. My parents plan to come over and they will fly to Bremen and get the train down to me and then I can drive them to the show.
I need to look into local accomodation as dont have space for my parents to stay here in my flat, so if I find something resonable I can let you know

So, news about Kandahar...
We are the breeders and took him back home after Neumünster.
Now he learns to be a riding horse. First time having a rider on his back:
