Translating BSJA records print-outs

Sorry a few questions here from someone that knows nothing about BSJA ! I am just looking at this horses BSJA record...So my questions are..!

Do you get awarded prize money for double clears even if you have not been placed?

Can you win money even if you have been placed in 18 th place?

Or are these just these mistakes on the BSJA computer? Just cannot understand why they have put that this horse has won money when it has not been placed! Also it seems to have won money when it finished in 18th position!?

And a BSJA print out does not show ALL the shows that a horse has competed at does it? Only the shows where the horse won money? So there would be no point in me ringing up the BSJA to ask if I can have a another print out showing every competition that the horse has done?

My understanding is if you jump double clear but are unplaced you do not win money but it will show on the record to show how many double clears you have for qualification.

Yes you can get prize money for 18th, it depends on the amount of starters in a class as they pay out by ratio.

Only winnings and double clears show, not all shows

YES. How far down the leader board prize money goes depends on number of starters. For prize money at 18th place there would be in excess of 90 starters in the class

And a BSJA print out does not show ALL the shows that a horse has competed at does it? Only the shows where the horse won money?
It lists classes horse has won money at or achieved a double clear in BN, Disco, Newc or Fox.
No point in asking for a complete comp history, you wont get one

Thanks Saf! That is great. I am really bummed off that they dont show all the shows- that is quite infuriating! I mean us eventers would really like to see how a horse has gotten on in its other shows, the odd pole or two down does not matter.I wouldve liked to have seen that on paper!
Oh well, that is BSJA for you!

See that is what I dont understand- I have here that the horse did not get placed at this show, there is nothing listed in the 'pos/actual/notional' sections but under 'totals' section it has won money for that show..in another column it says it jumped a double clear at that show. I guess that this must be an BSJA admin mistake....

God the BSJA is nothing like BE!

Totally agree it does not reflect the whole picture, if I was buying would like to see warts and all not just the winnings. BE shows it all good and bad

Just means that there is so much potential for sellers not to tell the truth. They can say that their horse has jumped in a 1.40 class but just tapped a pole or something. Or a horse couldve had a year out from competition when the seller has claimed that it has been out competing! Argh!

The zero placings with the winnings seem to be for one class each

But there are so many BSJA shows throughout the country all year that it would be an administrative nightmare to record every class of every show that took place!

They don't record double clears in open classes or the amateur classes either so you could have a horse that was consistently jumping double clears in both of those classes with no record to show it.
 
I'd rather the disasters were not recorded like BE!! (I remember our RC team organiser looking up someones BE record and finding they couldn't jump clear SJ and dropping them from the team....)

However personally I prefer the BSJA system to the BE ballot system any day!!
 
But the Irish SJA equivelant manage it . . their records show every show the horse has been to, who rode it, faults in the first round (if any), faults (if any) in the jump off (including the time), how many were in the class and what place/ points the horse won.
It's fab and you can really get a good picture of how the horse has been performing. If you get big gaps in a BSJA record the horse/pony could be out getting eliminated every week and you wouldn't know.
