I started this thread a while ago but I cant find it. My P.C. Skills are not the best and the internet is so complicated at my time in life. So i will continue hopefully without breaking any rules.

When we look at Selection of people to represent our country we rely on a group of individuals to make a decision that is best for the sport and our country.

When we do this it often doesn't go the way we may see fit. That has to be accepted, along with one condition. The proceedure is transparent and that there is integrity in it.

Then we should be able to make our concerns known, as long as there is evidence there to support your concern. This doesn't mean you are saying there is anything corrupt in the system, it is just is a system is transparent and has integrity any question should be accepted and answered, without trying to wriggle out of it.

As I see it there isn't this integrity in the selection proceedure or we wouldn't have the following situation.

1, Members of the selection commitee sitting as judges at the selection events. ie Farleigh. Surly this poses the question, was that judge impartial in their judging?

2. Julie Camms trainer advising the committee on who should be selected for the Pony world championships. He is being paid by Julie Camm yet serving the selection committee. Can you really serve two masters in this way?

When money is brought into the equation would that influence a decision when it could risk you salary being decreased.

Whether people want to look at these results is possibly a side issue although I cant see other competitors feeling that way if they thought it was a level playing field.

Most certainly we need to ask ourselves, what can be done in carriage driving and other equestrian sports to ensure selection for important events is fair?
