I'm going to pick up my new little lady at the end of feb, I live in West Sussex and she's in Somerset so quite a drive. It took 2hrs 30 to get there in my little car so guessing it will take 3 ish in horse box.
For little trips I normally ask someone at the yard and give them petrol money and a bottle of wine but this time I need to hire.
I have had a little look online and am not sure who to go for.
Getting someone to drive it looks like it will cost a fortune- £60 + 90p a mile + £20 a hour waiting fee
and will still need to pay for petrol for my car to follow them.
So I am thinking of hiring a self drive box, which my mum can drive (she is experienced) the going rate seems to be about £100 a day and then petrol on top but obvs we wouldn't need to take the car down there.....do you think this sounds like a better option.

So please and recomendation for Self Drive box hire in the West Sussex area??

4-5 hours!?
It took 2 hrs 30 to get to exactly where I'm going in my car who has a top speed of 55!
Why will it take so long?
 
There's a self drive horsebox hire in Hertfordshire which is doing a special offer in mid week winter - think it's only £65 for the day. Depends whether you would spend more in diesel coming to get it, or whether the chap would meet you somewhere with it? It's called DrivenbyYou, think they have a website. And if too far, at least it gives you a price comparison.
