Transport south east - recommedations?

I have found a new horse, vetting later this week and need to get him home (hopefully early next week). It is approx 85 miles each way - I've had one quote of £230, does this sound reasonable or is it worth shopping around?
 
I paid £140 for a 100 mile each way trip (luckily transporter based just down the road from where I was getting my boy) so I would say look around.

I see you're in Essex - where are you picking up from? It's worth looking at places near to both your pickup and drop-off destination? Whereabouts in Essex are you roughly?
 
no idea on cost

Try LOC they are meant to be good. If your horse is up north it's normally cheaper to get a transporter from there.
 
Robertsons (google them) are great and are very good value, it cost me £180 for Goudhurst, Kent to Haxby in York which is around 400 mile trip so give them a ring!! xx
