I am in the process of buying a 2y/o who is located in Devon, so can anyone recommend a transporter in the Devon area that travels up to Lincolnshire.

On doing a search everyone recommends Claire Howarth, but she is no longer transporting horses so any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated. Some time near the end of January/early February would be great.

We are near to Sheepgate Equestrian Centre, Arena UK, or Market Rasen or Doncaster racecourses.

Thanks

Alan Walter would be a good contact, he regularly transports racehorses up country and if you are flexible he will arrange a shared load. A W HorseTransport ltd, based in Taunton, Somerset.

^^^ This ^^

Ive used him to to bring a very nervous pony down from Northampton. Clair howarth put me in contact with them

Thanks all for the suggestions I have fired off a load of emails!!

I thought it would be more logical for a Devon Company to send him up as it would be better for the horse leaving Devon in the morning with a fresh driver than a return journey possibly much later in the day with a tired driver!! It is 300miles door to door and took me 4hrs non stop in a car doing 70mph (and maybe a bit more!!)

If you use a professional horse transporter using a proper HGV lorry then they are regulated by EU driver hours and have to use a tacho, so rest assured the driver will not be tired.

Those blessed dangerous 3.5t lorries are supposed to log their hours by law under domestic hours but they never do! VOSA love stopping them and fining them!

Another vote for www.findhorsetransport.org

We use www.jmrt.co.uk to transport all our horses - babies all the way up to veterans.

Good luck with getting your new horse up
