Hi,
just wondering if anyone could recommend any horse transporters in either Lancashire or Yorkshire that are reasonable and that you have used before etc.
i have used the various transport search websites and had quotes back. I must say thou, one or two of the quotes that come back, they dont appear to be emails from professionals! Hence i would rather go off other peoples experiences.
Thanks

if only my hubby had got my box back on the road !

Jane Ingram is very good... she is on my yard

It is a newly converted box, with camera in the back, and she is extremely patient and kind.

Does this mean you have found a broodmare?

PM me if you would like her mobile number...

Thanks Becki,
I must admit, at the mo she is top of my list

i've never heard of her before thou, so was kinda hoping someone would say what shes like

Only problem is the day she can do, doesnt fit very well with the current owner :S

I have found a broodmare, a KWPN that was imported from Belgium 3 years ago. Not 100% sure i am doing the right thing time wise as the twins could be here any day now! And i keep having to go to the delivery suite with false alarms! At this rate the twins will be born at the stables when i am there waiting for new neddy to arrive

Blue Rose transport based in Garstang. I cannot rate them highly enough, have taken my horse down to Wales and transport my friends back and forth from the Isle of Man. She is the most lovely lady I have ever met! Saw her recently after a few years and she remembered me and my horse and came and gave us a big hug!

Hi GigglePig,
I've tried them, someone told me they had stopped the long haul so i was quite excited they could fit me in but its very unlikely as they are doing a scotland to somewhere to isle of man trip this week

they took my number just incase but i really need to get something booked.

They have also taken one of my friends horsey back and forth to the Isle of Man (maybe the same person! a mare whose name begins with P) and they really are a lovely couple to deal with.

Hi, thanks for the link, i went on there a few days ago and have only had two repies, one who couldnt do it and the other who was twice as expensive as other quotes i have had. I would rather go with a personal recommendation rather than just 'any' i find online as replies i had via another transport search website were not very professional.

i may, have got her on a shared load using a company i used 10 years ago and already trust - just fingers crossed its on the right day! (thankfully its not too long a trip so a shared load isnt too bad)

We use them all the time!

The twice as expensive actually isn't expensive as when you look at what they are offering above all the rest we preferred to pay and haven't looked back since.

We stopped using a shared load a couple of years back when one of our horses nearly died from one of those 'shared' transporters-yeah brand new lorries but don't care about the load! Shocking!

We learnt our lesson!!!!

Glad you have got sorted out though!!!!

Good luck

Boothroyden's transport. He is brilliant. Mr Grumps as I like to call him. But he is registered DEFRA and is very professional. I used him all the time before I bought my own box. Give him a ring.

Blue rose are excellent, transported a youngster for me over nearly 200miles. mare arrived happy, healthy, dry and with all thed stuff she set off with. Enid treats them as her own.

Blue Rose could maybe do it, but as they are off to the isle of man tuesday, could get stuck and the seller needs the mare gone before thursday.
as for Boothroyden, thats the company i used 10 years ago and trust. Sadly they can offer me Thursday, but it has to be before then, i've emailed the seller asking when the very latest i can collect her is.

it's funny as prices dont seem to have increased since 10 years ago!

The quotes i have had that are twice as expensive, are actually some i wouldnt use even in an emergency! the joys of the fact i used to do a lot of motorway driving, and when you see a horsebox being driven erratically you kind of notice who it is!

It pretty much now all depends on the seller and what day is best for her, then i will have to decide on who to use. Thanks for all of the post.
