moving to Australia in 2 years and am saving all my money to take my boy with me.Hes been my best mate since iv'e had him from 6 months hes now 6 yrs. I know people think im mad but he is my big fatty and i couldntleave him behind. I have posted this before and got some good information but new computer so lost all my research. Please if you were one of those people who did reply or any one who has any information please do so all is welcome big or small. thanks

We looked into this last year sorry couple of years ago. I think to get the horse over it was something along the lines of 10k , if you google transporters overseas they will give you a better idea.

Also if your moving, check out the expats forum , theres lots of advice on there about emigrating. Good luck

I know of a lady who is thinking of moving her horse from the uk to australia (not sure where exactly) next year and she says it will cost her around £15000!

I think this price includes quarantine and things aswell. I did think it would be a bit less but am no expert!

I looked into this when I went over there, but decided against it due to the price (£8-10k) and the fact that I would likely come back - which I did!

In the end, I think my horse would have taken ages to adjust, as he is a very hot bod - and sweats up standing still in the UK summer! Having said that I helped a lady over there who bred, welshies, andalusians, and had a highland stallion - so must be able to adapt :)

If you're looking for livery over there - just remember its called agistment, took me ages to figure that out

Whereabouts are you moving to, or have you not planned that far ahead yet? :)

I would say it's definately worth bringing your horse, I thought I would buy one over here and it's a nightmare, I've been looking for months and unless you like off the track TB's or standardbreds or quarter horses you're stuffed. If you are away from Perth (we are 3 hours away) there's just nothing decent.

Will cost you about $20k AUS MINIMUM - thats if nothing goes wrong in quarantine, delayed flights etc.........

There are plenty of horses out here for sale that are good quality. Its quite easy to find horses throughout Australia, and its a darn sight cheaper to just fly over and view a horse anywhere in Australia and transport to Perth is not that ridiculous - and then the local carriers to get the horse up to where you are (3 hours) isnt that much.....

We send horses all over the country from here and its not too bad price wise :)
