Hi all,

I'm moving back home to Norway this autumn, and of course will be taking my horse with me! I've been looking into international transport companies and it seems fairly straightforward, but oh so expensive. So I'm starting to look into whether anyone else is going back/forth to Norway and/or Sweden in the coming months, to possibly share their transport?
Seems like quite a few riders in these countries come to train/compete here, or maybe there's someone exporting horses that way?

I've been asking around in Norway too but thought to give this a go as well. If you know of anyone who is likely to be doing this trip any time soon, or anything else useful to know about this travelling business, please let me know :)

Norway is one of those countries that the road systems do cost sadly and the bridge crossings.

The international transporters are the best as they will have all the licences and inspections done on their lorries.

Not every competitor/rider keeps up with the legal side of their lorrys ie operators licence, defra licences and T2 Inspections on their lorries. The paperwork is also changing with the DOCOM trial on at the moment.

So best to go with the professionals than be called to say your horse with its not so legal lorry will be impounded until further notice.

You can get a whole load of prices from www.findhorsetransport.org and see what you can do. I know Deards and JMRT go across regularly, so maybe get on there

Good luck with your move

Thank you, that is a good point actually regarding the licences etc. Have emailed a few more companies for quotes, but thank you so much for the link, I hadn't seen that before!

Seems like John Parker is a favourite with most Norwegians I've talked to.

I honestly can't recommend LOC Limited enough, or Julie Magnus Race Horse Transport.

LOC will send you text updates/pictures along the way, and are extremely professional. Their lorries are also top of the range and immaculate.

Julie's lorries are a little less flash but she's lovely, too.
