What age is it best to start getting a youngster used to a trailer. I have a 7mth old filly and have walked her through several times but havent actually shut her in yet and travelled her. I have a travel proof Arab mare of 23 who will travel with her.

My colt is going to be started when he's fully weaned, so should be about 3 weeks from now!! he'll be five months.
He needs to be really otherwise id have a hell of a ride getting him home!!!

Mine had to be moved at 2 months, so got used to it very quickly then! Was actually really easy, travelled really well, worst bit was getting him off the other end, he'd rather have stayed in the lorry and didn't wan to come down the ramp!

As young as possible.

I travelled my filly for the first time at about 8 months. she'd never seen a trailer, let alone been in one. She walked but the ramp with no hesitation and travelled perfectly. loose with no partitions. since then she has travelled several times too and from the vets, tied up with partitions and has loaded with less and less hesitation each time...

Mine went to the vets with Mummy at 2 months old....shes now 7 months, leaps into the trailer because theres yummy hayledge in there.
