I'm looking into getting a horse moved to us from its present home and was wondering if anyone had ideas on approximate costs or had an experience of this?

At the moment he is just off junction 29 of the M1 and we are all the way down at junction 9!

So far I've had a quote of £250. Is this about the money?

Also would I be right in thinking its just too far to do with a trailer and wouldn't be particularly fair on the horse?

Any help would be appreciated!

to give you an idea of the price difference, I've got a quote to go from Warrington to Hastings its 300+ miles for 2 large horse and the quotes started at about £800 and I'm now down to £325 for both so its well worth checking out.

Cheers John.

No problem, glad to be of help

You should get it cheaper on a shared load.

Trailer wise, without looking at map I don't know the junctions off top of head but I am guessing something along the lines of Leeds to Luton approx? TBH if I had a trailer and the time I would do that journey in a trailer.

Yep its Luton to not far short of Sheffield! Or the other way round I suppose. Would you really consider doing it by trailer?

My friend reckons on £1 per mile, split between the number of horses on the lorry. So a 100 mile trip is £100 divided by the number of horses.

she must be running at a loss every trip then.

I stopped transpoting peoples horses as it wasnt ocst effective, with wear and tear on vehicle. People didnt want to pay. I was asked to take a pon 5 miles and said it would be 15.00, and they called me a robbing dog!! Didnt realise I had to pick trailer up, hitch it up, drive to pick up pony. wait whilst they loaded it, chatted to owners etc, and drive back, unload, take trialer back to yard etc, not worth it!!!
