Plenty of people in this area use a stock trailer for horses, you see them parked up at shows, funrides etc.
Our stock trailer has a metal floor so would be unsuitable to put my shod horse in as I think she would struggle with grip, I think my unshod one would be ok. Not an issue for us as I have my own trailer (and I don't want to have to clean & bed down then take it all out when I'm finished, the stock trailer each time I want it!).
When we had a cattle lorry we always transported all our ponies in there, you could fit loads in going to pony club events.
