Heya :)

Does anyone know if Weatherbeeta offer a guarantee on rugs at all? I've looked on their website but cant see anything. A couple of weeks ago my TB who's roughed off at the mo trashed his rug, so I bought him a brand new Weatherbeeta, now less than 2 weeks later that's trashed too! Not amused lol.

Thanks

If it's due to a fault on the rug you can return it to the store you bought otherwise afraid not.
It explains in their FAQS that the ripstop fabric won't prevent rips just help to stop them spreading.
Shouldn't imagine it would be financially viable for them to offer a guarantee in rugs.

No if your horse is a rug trasher think you just have to mend/replace :( what number of ripstop stitching was the rug? my horse ripped 3 rugs and got him a new inexpensive one that's holding up surprisingly well compared to the dearer makes

If he's ripping it try an Axiom one off ebay. They are 1800d and not very expensive at all. I'm really pleased that mine has lasted so long with a youngster in the field who likes to hang off it.

ok thanks :)
he's not normally a rug thug so no idea why he's trashing them all of a sudden. I'll look at the Axiom or go with premier equine i suppose... but for £100 every 2 weeks he'll be naked if he's not careful lol!

If he is roughed off and has a full coat when he would be used to being clipped in the winter he may be getting too warm in a decent rug, I would, unless he is dropping off weight, put a lighter one on and see if he stops trashing it, either that or look at his companions it may be one of them that is doing the damage rather than him.

I have four rug trashers, I have my two oldies rugged in MW's, my TB tries pulling his off, the mare lets others trash hers, my two naked ones will bite at the rugs, often pulling the tail flaps off, I use the trashed rugs as draft excluders in the barn and just buy new, as old rugs are beyond repair, hey ho, the joys of horses

No weatherbeeta were like eels. Clipped mine and put on brand new 1200D combo med light. She holed it with nothing to rub on overnight. Did photos, weatherbeeta and they said it was trauma due to rolling they then asked was their glass on the horses paddock at that I think they got the message did they honestly think I would endanger my horse like that? However 4 weeks later mare out of rug thrashing it. She today has destroyed a weatherbeeta hood, think she is anti them. Fine in her Rambo though!

ok thanks :)

I agree that he might be too hot, it's certainly been a mild winter so far. If his coat is good, he might be far happier off naked.

Is your best coat Guaranteed against you ripping on something, say barbed wire? Not quite the same, but they cannot Guarantee against rips and tears. Unless it is actually faulty, they are not expected or going to replace/refund. Sorry:(

Thanks WelshD - but no it was an original so not one for a rug trasher :( not that he normally is. It could be that he's too hot though, I'd leave him naked if I knew it wouldnt rain, but he gets rainscald. I've bought a 100g PE in the sale so fingers crossed that's ok. His last PE lasted for years.
