We are picking up a pony from a stud 200 miles away, he is only 12hh but not had anything done with him, handled but not used to be tied up etc. What would be the best way to transport him home, I thought to put a bed of shavings in our trailer hay on the floor and leave him free as he is not used to being confined and tied however my husband said its too dangerous as if we brake suddenly he could go through the front as no breaching bars. to restrain him. He is only small, not like a big horse in there an I dont want any obstruction he can be injured on. I suppose a lorry would be safer maybe, I could hire for the day. I hope once we get going he concentrates on balancing rather than thashing around, he is a quiet little chap.
