Hey

My horse hates travelling in the travel boots that cover their hocks and infact they make him travel worse. I just wondered if anyone knows or any good travel boots that either dont irritate the horses and make them walk like chickens or that dont cover the horses hocks?

my horse does not like having travel boots that cover hocks too, we use thermatex stable wraps on him, he loves them.

I just use stable wraps on my hairy cob - more to keep his feather clean as he loads and travels well and has natural knock protection.

My WB used to travel in brushing boots and over reach boots front and rear and I used to put on knee boots - she was accident prone, sometimes very difficult to load and needed protection but hated travel boots. This solution worked really well for her.

How about not putting any on (controversial I know!) but put on overreach boots on the back feet so that if he does stand on himself he'll be a bit protected. you could still bandage the legs if you wanted extra protection.

I use knee boots on the front, brushing boots on the back, and over reach boots all round, because none of mine are very keen on travel boots, which is a shame, because they'd be much quicker to put on!

I bought a good old fashioned pair of hock boots on ebay - leather and felt - Donkey travels well in them, rather than having a kicking paddy until the boots are off!
