Travel Boots - what do you do

What does everyone use when travelling, we only go short distances but always feel the pony should have something on although a lot of people say not to bother.

I've tried a few pony size travel boots but they are hopeless they just slip down and she ends up treading all over them, I think they cause her more problems than they solve, she seems more relucant to load when all wrapped up! She isn't that small 13.1 NF so would have thought pony size would be OK for her.

Bandaging is a bit of a pain, what does everyone else find works best?
 
I always use travel boots, although cob size are the right length but often not wide enough for Genie!

Mazzie (my 15.2hh TB) always used to have to wear pony size boots...
 
I have a 13.2 NF x, he wears amigo pony sized boots, they are a touch short but cob could wrap around his legs twice!

I used to use horseware ones which seemed ok but i always bandage now as they never fall down (doesn't take that much longer to put on but guess its all down to personal preference).
 
I tried the Amigo ones, they were too big on the front and slipped right down as soon as she moved but a bit small on the back. Unless I'm doing something wrong!
 
Ive given up on boots, all makes seem to slip down on my 14hh pony, then he slips all over the place when he is walking on them! I only use bandages and find they are very quick to put on once you are practiced!
 
Depends on the horse and how they travel.

Usually I'd like them to have some protection on their legs but some horses are more likely to injure themselves because of the travel boots and don't like things over their hocks.

Or just whip some boots on for loading/unloading to prevent any ramp scrapes etc.
 
Mine has travel boots in front and brushing boots behind as he won't wear travel boots behind. This seems to have worked well for us so far but to be fair, we haven't travelled very much and only for short distances
 
Pip has WW ones that fit him and Ginga, and kindof the 13hh section B's, don't use them though! Only put brushing boots on Richard as he is a bad traveller, everything else goes best without

Pip doesn't mind his, and travels well but I just think it is better without.
 
Tried travel boots but he didn't travel well just kept kicking until the back boots came half off so then all over the place, now either go without or use thermatex boots (fantastic)
 
We don't use travel boots, just tail bandages when we travel ours. Only exception is if it is winter and really cold, then they have Thermatex leg wraps on.

The reason we don't use boots if that the horses can get hurt if the boots slip and the horse panics. Also the jury is out as to whether it could potentially overheat tendons. Don't know the answer to that one mind!
