We have a Border Terrier who will be making a few trips this summer to the seaside

Are the cages suitable to travel in long distances ? (obviously we will stop on the way for drink , wee and stretch)

or should he be strapped on the back seat with a harness ?

ye they are great, and also if you need one with a slanted edge to fit in a hatchback or something (not sure what shape of cars etc) they are also available and work really well!

I dont want a cage in my car as I use the boot of my 4x4 for work.....

I bought a large cat carrier and it can sit on the front seat .... also used it for the dog to sleep in when a puppy to keep him safe away from the kids ( 3 and 7 then).

When I get it out of the garage now he dives inside and wont get out!!!!

I have a Lintran Dog Box for Otto, they have a huge range but are quite pricey, ours was a hand-me-down from my Parents who got it cheap second hand.

It is fantastic as it is a fibre glass body with a wire front and door, so all the dirt that comes off him is contained in the bottom of the box.

Completely changed Otto in the car, he used to be terrified and extremely car sick, now he will settle instantly in any car no matter where you put him (even without his box), people are always commenting on how well behaved he is in the car (it's about the only place he is!

ETA - It sits in the boot of our car, and completely fills it, but we have a tiny boot!

It is also strong enough to keep him in, but should anyonerun into the back of us, the top will give and let him out, perfectly demostrated when my Mum had a major crash and it let the dogs out and had them running around on a major road
