Hi all, looking for some advice -we are hoping to go to Vegas for 6 nights beginning of march. I have seen some good deals to nice hotels flying direct with BA trouble is our friends who want to come with us can't book until November for various reasons. Best deal at moment I have seen is in New York hotel for £830 Inc direct ba flights and the resort taxes. Do you think prices are likely to go up much if we wait to book (will be 2 couples}?

Also suggestions for things to do, so far a show or 2 (poss Penn & Teller and cirque De soleil) the zip wire and jump off stratosphere sound good. We def want to see grand canyon but the thought of 12 hrs round coach trip fills me with horror, is the small plane better or helicopter or hummer (may be price dependant!).

All other thoughts, tips, hints gratefully received - other hotels which I think look good are the mgm grand and tropicana (all have good write ups are central and reasonable) but open to suggestions.

Thanks, just cooked lasagne and new York cheesecake on offer 😁

Clear your cookies before you check prices again. The sites sometimes remembers them and puts prices up.

Why can't you book yours now? They can book theirs later.

I've not been to Vegas, but have done the helicopter ride over the canyon. Perhaps fly up there then do helicopter, but we did the bus ride from Phoenix, which is about the same and it's a nice ride.

I would say book now. Long haul flights rarely come down in price the closer to the flying date you get. Shorthaul you can normally get a bargain close to the time but the more in advance you book the better long haul IMO.
Vegas is awesome. I wouldn't say it was my kind of holiday at all because im more private villa in the mountains type holiday BUT you just have to go and appreciate how big and fake everything is, honestly its an amazing place, lol! 6 days is a LONG time in Vegas if you ask me. Once you have walked the strip and seen the casinos and hotels (they are all themed) there isn't much else to do apart from eat but the portions are so massive you get bored of that pretty quickly as well!

We saw Bet Midler and Circ de soleil 'O' which was the water one. Both totally amazing and worth seeing. Obviously there are the casinos and night clubs but you get a lot of redneck spazzes in the clubs unless you go to the rich ones when you get a load of pretentious w%%kers! and if your not into betting and casinos it gets pretty same old pretty quickly which is why I say 6 days is probably two days too long?

I have no plans to go back to Vegas anytime soon as there are so many other places in the world I want to see but for something that's really not my kind of holiday I cant help but say to people that they must go because it really is amazing on so many right/ wrong levels, hahaa

Check out Virgin, they are better and a little bit cheaper than BA! Check on prices direct and with a connection but there isn't much in it usually apart from the headache of getting off in Asia and walking across the terminal to get on another plan to complete the journey. Its a long one, 11 hours I think? Try and get seats by the emergency exits if you can, trust me the leg room is worth it when you have 11 hours of flying to do in cattle (economy)

We didn't do the canyon but if I went again and we could afford it I would do the helicopter trip just to say ive done it. There is a large shopping outlet a taxi ride away which I cant remember the name of but its a bit like Bicester shopping village and you can get loads of clothes and really good prices there so that's worth a couple of hours!

DO IT :) but book now I say.

I love Vegas. Been about a dozen times. Be prepared to walk your socks off. Everywhere looks close but is actually miles.
Why not hire a car and drive to Grand Canyon. Have a stop off on route. The Hoover dam is amazing. You can stay on lake Mead.
Take it for what it is. Completely and utterly over the top.
All Circe du soliel shows are good as are most things. If Tom a Jones is playing see him.
Go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner great value. Use the Buffets. The good quality ones are very nice.
The Irish bar in NY NY is great fun.
In fact I love every last thing about it. I am thinking of going for the rodeo week. Although I think it's November so won't make it this year.

Thanks guys, honey08 - we want to travel together and share car to airport so easier to book together to ensure same flight etc. Antw23uk OH won't go for any less, we are happy to relax in room if had enough, I did 4 nights with mum to NY and thought maybe 4 or 5 nights but 6 won't kill me. That's what I thought about prices, we have looked at 1 stop and also virgin from Gatwick but again OH prefers Heathrow and doesn't want to do anything but direct flights (fussy ****** but if it makes him happy!)

Will keep shopping outlet in mind too

Make sure you get a direct flight as its hell changing. If you book a helicopter flight to the gc make sure you go with a reputable company. A few people in our trip had booked rides through companies on the Internet only to be told there was no way a helicopter ride could be booked for that price and they had been had. The south rim is best as the skywalk is a bit of a con. You cannot take cameras on and the queues are massive and your on it for seconds

Thanks madali will put cheesecake factory and hoover dam on list. kaylum, good tip about south rim, thanks

Try and do a helicopter trip to see the Grand Canyon in all its glory - we went with HeliUSA and I think they are the only company to have a licence to fly through the Canyon rather than just over it, it was amazing! Also a trip to the Hoover Dam is well worth it if you don't mind heights!!! I have to say that I didn't like Las Vegas at all although I agree you have to sample it for yourself as some people love it however part of the experience is just not nice (you can't walk down the Strip without being accosted by middle aged Mexican men and women giving out cards with topless women on them & offering to get your other half any sex they want.........yuk & there are beggars and homeless people as well but in fairness you get that in any big city) On the plus side the Bellagio fountain shows were great (and free!!) and of course the weather was lovely, the casinos have to been seen to be believed and the same goes for the hotels which are jaw dropping......have a great time!!
