Travel Kit

So I finally passed my trailer test last week whoop whoop. My trailer is having a bit of titivation and I want to get organised.

I will mostly be traveling on my own with one horse. I have plenty of spare space in the Land Rover and the trailer so I'm going to get some boxes to keep my travel stuff together but what 'stuff' do I need?

I will be using the trailer for shows, lessons, dressage comps etc.

What are your must have items... I can only think of first aid kit! I'm also after a new travel rug and boots after my Whitaker Rug didn't manage a 20 min journey and boots are trashed!

Buckets for water and skip bucket
Grooming kit
Spare hat, headcollar, leadrope, bits of tack, gloves incase anything breaks whilst you're out
Whip
Haynet
Mirror (for checking tie in!)

My tackroom in the trailer has a duplicate grooming kit, duplicate first aid kit.
All the usual washing/ cleaning/skipping out stuff, water containers - all those are permanently in there.

Spares of everything, including clothing and footwear (the one thing you don't put in is the very thing you WILL need )

Lawn chairs, barbeque, table, matting to stand all that on - we don't believe in roughing it anymore

Spare tail bandages / tail guard! Nothing worse than having to put the pooey ones back on!

I bought some stuff that stays in my trailer as I was sick of forgetting items!

Folding chairs
Stubbs bucket in tyre
Water container
Spare haynet (filled)
Lunge whip
Lunge line
Muck skip
Grooming kit (all brushes, fly spray, mane and tail, face highlighter, show hoof oil, light oil)
Basic tool kit for tailer
Mirror
Waterproof sheets for horses

Then all I have to do is put in the horses, tack and my show clothes on the day

Enough hay and water to last for at least 12 hours, even if I'm only going 20 minutes down the road. This is in case of a breakdown or a road unexpectedly being shut due to an accident and traffic held.

Spare head collars and lead ropes.

Always take spare pants !!! I speak from experience having gone for a swim at a water complex on a XC clinic
