I try not to feed her for at least two hours before we go anywhere.
My vet has some homeopathic pills for travel sickness but I haven't tried them yet.
I have been advised that the best thing is just to take the dog out in the car as often as possible. Starting off with small trips and gradually increasing the length of travel and also going to nice places for the dog so they associate the car with pleasurable experiences.
My other dogs love it in the car and travel beautifully so a vomiting pup was a bit of a shock!
In fairness to the pup I don't go out in the car so much nowadays so she has not had the chance to get used to it really.
My advice is to take lots of black bin liners to put the sick covered bedding in and take lots of spare blankets or beds.
Go to the chemist and get some stugeron. Don't tell them it's for the dog or they won't sell it to you. Give 1/4 tablet 2 hours before you travel and do not repeat sooner than 8 hours. If it works on a couple of short journeys then do a big journey (2 hours plus)
It worked beautifully for maya who would be repeatedly sick on car journeys, now she just curls ip and goes to sleep.
My pup was like this - almost every time out in car from when we collected him til he was about 4 months - then gradually less frequently and now almost never, I think probably once in the last month, he's coming up 7 months now. I think the vast majority do grow out of it! I never gave him any pills or anything but found he was best sitting in the front (on an old beach towel!!) so he could see out of the front window. He is also always (strangely) better in my rattley old landy defender than my OH's much smoother to drive jag estate!
