My mum has a JRT bitch. She is 5 months old and travels terribly. She foams at the mouth and is really sick (from both ends!) and whines alot. The thing is she is not scared she jumps in the car and wants to go out. My mum has been trying to do short trips with her but the minute you go anywhere further she gets bad again. She is travelled in a large dog cage in the boot of the car.
Not sure if there is anything that could be given to her before travelling to help her???
Any suggestions

Polos normally help for the sickness but not sure about the other end!!
My 4 year old weimaraner is travel sick and the polos really work and just taking them out often so they get used to it, make it rewarding, like a nice walk when you get to your destination.
I can now take millie out for about an hour and a half, it used to be about 10 minutes in the car and she would throw up!

As suggested mint or ginger for sickness, apparently allowing them to sit on cardboard can also help

Also dry a dap collar for anxiety...this will be the reason she poops.... and rescue remedy and always make sure she has not eaten atleast 2 hours b4 travelling....also try covering the crate as it lessens the sensation of the motion.
Take her on very small journeys and let her out, allow her to play for a while then back in car, I knw she is happy to get in as such, but the though of something positive at the end of a short ride may take her mind of the anxiety.

My Dalmation was very travel sick when she was younger, the vet gave us travel sickness tablets for long journeys, after a couple of journeys with the tablets she stopped being sick. The tablets made her very sleepy so she got used to sleeping and not stressing in the car, she is now 6 years old and has never been sick in the car since.
Please note though, it is quite normal for pups to be car sick, most will grow out of it.

Sometimes its because they cant see out of a window or see where they are going (hence the sickness) try raising the cage or whatever your dog travels in to see if it makes a difference, some young dogs go through this phase until they get used to it, try to avoid feeding them for a few hours before you travel, that might also help. My mum had a show dog that suffered from TS, was a bit of a nightmare, but she travelled better on my dads knee with a TS tablet or sea legs (was a only a small dog but a hairy one) so it always got messed up by the time they got to a show!
