I have a little Spanish Rescue dog who has been with me for about 3 weeks now. I was told by her rescuers in Spain that she was sick in the car and not a good traveller. She was with them for about 3 weeks before coming over to me. She is about 2yrs old and doubt whether she has ever been in a car. I left it until today for her to get over her journey. We had driven about three quarters of a mile before she chucked up. We had a nice long walk and she was very happy. Coming back she was sick again. She is very happy about going into the car and I believe that this is a MOTION sickness. Does anyone have any experience of getting a dog over this or do you think she will be like this forever? Your experiences please.

I once had a Labrador bitch, and she couldn't travel without throwing up. We'd think it strange, I suppose, but she loved the car, she was always the first to hop in on a shoot day, and she showed no sign of stress, the problem was that all the other dogs were either covered in vomit, or cleaned up what she'd ejected!

Bridie was a very useful bitch, and a powerhouse, but went to a man with no driving licenceI He thought the world of her. It is as you say (or seemed to be) the fact that the car was in motion. I tried every way of desensitising her, but nothing worked.

Has anyone ever managed to cure a dog of chronic car-sickness?

Alec.

We had a little lurcher who used to get travel sickness and she used to throw up when my mum used to drive me to school but then I used to get very travel sick as well so sometimes we both ended up being sick.

However when my dad drove it was less of an issue and also on straight roads with windows open she was ok too. Are you are smooth driver and do you go on lots of twisty roads?
