Hi. I have an Ifor Williams 510 and a hippo that refuses to load in it when the partition is. Recently I've been able to load her without the partition and she is literally loading herself now. I've decided to leave the partition out as I will never pull 2 horses anymore.

I have never driven a single horse in a double trailer so I was wondering what the differences are. What should I be more cautious of etc. Any advice/thoughts would be helpfull. :)

I usually have the partition out as its rare im travelling 2 horses unless its a mare and foal, and then its out anyway obviously.

No different really, imo, I just cross tie. Full breech bar and chest bar.

You need a bar to go across the full width of the trailer in front and behind the horse. When the partition is in you will have two at the front and two behind that hook on to the side of the trailer and the partition. For an Ifor 510 my full width breech and breast bars cost about £80. I ordered them from Ifor on their website. My mare only travels alone in a double trailer without the partition as she couldn't balance with it but I would never do it without the breech and breast bar. If she sat fully onto the ramp she could break the fasteners or there could be a nasty accident while putting the ramp up or down.

I always travel my horse on his own with no partition in a Batesons Ascot, I don't notice the difference except I have to make sure he can't get loose and turn around!! He is much happier like that but he stands quietly corner to corner. I think I would be more cautious if I Haida horse who was restless in the trailer.
