OH has just asked this and I have no idear, lols!
He was asking about show dogs comming to the UK for big shows ect, do they have to go through quarantine or are they allowed to skip it if they are pasported/chipped/vacc ect?
How does it work going from the UK to America?

American dogs come and compete at Crufts and things now don't they. I'm presuming it is a bit like us wanting to take dogs abroad providing they are chipped and vaccinated against rabies etc with a valid passport they can come into the country.

To come to the UK, they would need a UK passport and be up to date on all vaccinations to be able to enter without quarantine. To go the other way they need nothing but it is advisable to have them rabies vaccinated.

OH's mums dog is American and she's just come over - don't think she has a British passport because she isn't british!

She didn't have to go into quarantine, came and the same plane as her owners and they picked her up a couple of ours after landing.

I think they may have changed things since I moved, or perhaps before. I believe that so long as the dog has not left the US to go to any other country that is not accepted by the UK, AND it is up to date on all of its vaccinations (rabies) according to the rules of DEFRA then no quarantine is required anymore when coming into the UK.
