im going over to holland to collect a couple of foals . now im taken a trailer so what would you do
(1) put the Centre Partition in or leave out
(2)would you tie up or leave un tied
(3) how many times would you stop for them to have a drink jouney is 6hr 34 mins from calais to holland where we going . then its another 1hr from dover to my house and fields
(4) should i leave top doors open or shut when on jorney and boat
and anything else i should do or not do

No help whatsoever but I love the preciseness of 6 hrs and 34 mins :D, plus I'd pay somebody to transport them for me, I'd just be a nervous wreck on the boat .

I'd rather somebody who has done it many times take the responsibility for me.

ha ha i looked it up on google earth . i know .
i just fancing the ride and also try and save money while im at it i was quotoed £400 each horse
i wouldnt use that in diesel only my time and paperwork is sorted by owners so it the case go over get and come back and maybe grab some duty free while im at it ha ha

There are pretty strict guidelines on travelling youngstock - so you're going to need to check the DEFRA website for details on what age youngstock can travel from, rest periods (I believe they have to be rested for a minimum of 24 hours during the trip if the journey is over a certain amount of time), and what the maximum length of journey is that you can do in one go etc. And what the permitted mode of transport is.

And top doors always closed.

I'd personally take out the partition, have plently of shavings/straw on the floor and some hay in a corner on the floor NO HAYNETS!
keep all the top doors shut but all the vents open.
I'd be stopping every 2 and a half hours to give them a rest and a drink, only this frequently as they are only babies and i should imagine all tht balancing will be very tiring for them.

That's expensive.

John Parkers brought my lad over from central Holland for £275. As the price of the ferry ticket for our truck was hugely more expensive than that, it made no sense to go and get the horse ourselves, PLUS they dealt with all the paperwork and have access to lairages in France in case something goes wrong. The owners may deal with all the export paperwork, but you've still got the ports to deal with.

Get a transporter to do it! All horses have to have a separate partition by law, so taking out the middle wouldn't go down too well. It's a very long drive and I'm sure if you ask about you could get it less than £400. Friend paid just £600 to bring one back from the Netherlands on a private load.

another prob i think you'll have is that 2, last year fresian foals are going to be a good 13hh each id have thought, so even 2 loose in a trailer without a partition isnt going to give them a lot of space.i travelled my last year dales filly up from stud this feb.she was loose in back of lorry and even then didnt look like she had a huge amount of extra space and she was only 12hh.
id be very reluctant to put 2 x 13hh foals/yearlings loose in a trailer...if they freak it could easily tip over.

I used a dutch transportation company, they were the cheapest, sadly i cant remember their names but they had green lorrys and it cost me £250 to get my boy to Bristol (so few hours further than you are).
