Hi all just wondering about your experiences with lorry V trailer, I brought an ex racehorse last year straight from racing and on the way home in my forward facing 3.5t he got his front legs over the breast bar and got stuck, he eventually gone himself over the breast bar, into the living and out thought the passenger door, sustained several cuts and a fractured pedal bone??‍♀️ Vets hopefully going to give the all clear next week to start work on him so eventually would like to get out and about on him, clinics, pleasure rides ext but I’m very nervous at traveling him in my lorry, we don’t know why he did it as the trainer said he’s traveled in all sorts of lorries with no issues and since done several journeys in the horse transport 7.5t herringbone, but I don’t want to by a big lorry, any advice please

I agree, I wouldn't have a 3.5 with a breast bar. The ones where the breast bar isn't collapsible and the back door is too narrow for a safe exit should be taken off the roads IMO.

I have a 3.5 tonne, but it is with stallion partitions so nowhere for the horse to go. I have had a youngster or two jump up and down on the wheel arch, but as the headroom is also 8ft, it was to no detriment than the rubber was damaged on the wheel arch. The horse would have to try hard to get inured.

I had an anti jump bar fitted in mine but with something determined they can rear on top of it. Bit like tack lockers. Still much safer though as no where to actually go. race master lorry and race master fitted the barrier.
