Or just leave them inside and go very slowly and carefully? I am interested to hear what everyone has to say. Thanks

Most definitely leave them in and take it steady, just working round the bumps as much as possible, I don't know anyone that would take the horses out. I would think it a bit bizare if they did.

Leave them in drive slowly and try to go round the potholes and bumps if i can. As i travel a lot by myself the only way i would be able to lead my girl would be to do it out the drivers window while driving which may well not be the safest thing to do!

lol! me too
mine you - i have seen this being done with a string of polo ponies out a pickup window!!

Well the lane to my house is terrible and we just drive really slowly and they are fine. I have found a field to rent at someone else's house and their lane is no way near as bad and she said as i was going that they take the horses out at the top of the lane and walk them down or it will put them off traveling for life!

Our lane is terrible, and i just go nice and slowly. The horses have never been bothered at all. In fact, as soon as they feel the bumps they know they are home!!

Glad everyone thinks the same as i do, i'd never heard anyone saying that before and imust admit i did want to laugh! Think she'll have a shock when i drive them all the way!

Yep, our lane is terrible too. It's actually a BOAT/bridlepath, so not even surfaced. Like others above, we just take it very slowly and easily. It would never have occurred to me to walk the horses down the lane - but even if I did, I'd have to walk them about a mile or so, because it's all single track roads for a while and unless I completely blocked the road, there's nowhere I could re-load safely.
