Travellers Health insurance; horse racing in Australia

Travelling to Australia in Mid January to work in flat racing for 6 months. I’m currently looking into health insurance and am struggling to find anywhere that covers working in the industry over there for travellers due to it being classed as “an extreme sport”. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggested insurance companies or advice on how this works? I don’t want to take any risks… especially as it’s me on a horse? TIA!

I will ask my sister as she is in Australia and worked in racing when she first got out there.

Does your new employer not provide this or at least advice/recommendation in your employment pack?

It's not usually down to the employer, there is a work cover though if you are a visa holder you have to have your own insurance in case you do something outside of work

You need to check if it has ambulance cover as well, my sister has Bupa

Brilliant thank you!! Employer has said work must cover us in the work place which is great so will just be getting a normal package for the time we’re not in work!!
