How would you travel a weanling in a rice trailer?

Loose?- the key to the jockey door is long gone and im worried it'll spring open if lent on. Tried fitting a bolt to outside but cant get it to stick well enough.

Cross-tied with the partition out?

With the partition and the breast bar in?

Could really use advice!!!!!!!

My friends just collected 2 weanlings to bring to our yard, They were in a trailer with a partition, tied up as normal, they put straw bales in front of the breast bar to stop them trying to exit that way. They were moderately handled youngsters, not really been tied up or anything, but both travelled very sweetly and munched on their hay & enjoyed the experience.

is there anything you could tie baling twine from the door handle to as its what we do when the box is being used as storage in the yard

Loose bar removed no partitions and i wouldnt even risk it with the jockey door like that. put plenty of straw down for baby too. i would never travel a baby tied up..or allow one of mine to leave me that way.

Lots of straw down, all interior stuff out, loose. Find a way to jam the jockey door shut, and close the top doors too.

I got advice this time last year when I collected my six month old weanling. Trailer with straw banks and on floor with some hay on floor for him to munch if felt like it. Breast bar out with several straw bales wedged at the front to act as a breast bar and also stop him from trying to get out jockey door. Top doors closed. He travelled a dream the two hours we had to take him home. Cctv showed him to travel backwards but slightly diagonally across the trailer

Here's the link to the thread where I asked folks opinion

Ditto, loose all out, find something to jam jockey door or stack small bales of straw up at the front as a block.

Just get the jockey door fixed. It's not something you want to open by accident ever. Not a big job for a man (or woman!) with the right tools.

And loose as others have said with no means of escape or getting trapped.

Good luck, hope you will post some pics of your new addition :)

When i collected my two unhandled weanlings it was loose in a well strawed trailer, they travelled for nearly three hours, with a stop to check them, good as gold, i definately would not tie up and get the jockey door fixed.
