Hi, im looking for help traveling a youngster on the weekend. She has been in a box a couple of times when very young on short trips and is ok at loading but can take a bit of persuading. the journey will take 5-6 hours.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get her here safely regarding any calmers I might try, partitions in/out of the trailer etc.

I plan to have her shoes taken off and travel her without travel boots as these just wind her up also I have got the option of using a full length brest bar.

Thank you

If travelling without travel boots I recommend either bandaging or using decent tendon boots and overreach boots. You'll be really cross if she bangs herself by accident and is out of action

Ideally use a poll guard or tie up tight in case she rears and bashes her head

How old is youngster?how big is she?

I take it as she is shod she is 3 or 4? ties up fine?

If this is the case I personally would travel her like an adult horse. Partitions in, tie her up, haynet at the front, bandage her legs if you / she doesn't like boots and get on with it. perhaps close the top doors at the back of the trailer initially if you're not sure how she will cope...

If she were a baby baby who didn't know how to tie up I'd say loose with no partitions, big straw bed, top doors closed, two bales of straw in nose of trailer to keep the weight there...
