Hey,

I just wanted to know if people used these and how much thy roughly cost. I am thinking ahead, if i get this job, then I will have obscure hours and will need help with Ned as well as possible mucking out. My Ned is a bit of a teenager and is also WB so likes his routine and also his food and can be a bit messy. Also I am a neat freak and have him deep litter so want to pay some one if they muck out so I can make sure they do it right......LOL..... but you know how it is.

Any way just wanted to know if
A) any one knows a good one in the Reading area
B) how much you think it would cost. If i am on early's then I may be able to do it before I go but may have to get up at 5 .30am, but if i am on lates then I will need him brought in and the field cleared. If I am on full days then I was looking at muck out and bring in, but doing it all at around 3pm so as not to make grrom come over twice in one
day.
C) Would a travelling groom be ok with some days being different stuff to other days depending on hours that I work?

(Also in Yard forum)

thanks for help

Look for ads at local tackshiops for Freelance Grooms , Expect to pay about £10 an hour, if they are not already at your yard. fitting in rotating shifts may be tricky, if they have a regular client base.

(When you wrote Travelling Grooms I was thinking of travelling as in accompanying horse in transit)

Not for me-
four horses on part livery would be dearer than paying somene £15 to muckout and do for four on a odd day when I cannot get to my yard ( Not on livery)
I have only used a trevelling groom twice on last two years- once to collect a youngster ona long journey and ocne for a vet hospital run.
I have only used a freelancer four times, when we have been away

I think bumble needs almost full llivery though!

Thanks for your posts. I actually think that next winter he will go into full livery but as i keep him at home it is free so I dont want to pay full livery all year round when I have good grazing and a school at home. Lol. Thanks for your help. I dont know if I will need a freelancer but its best to check these things out isnt it!!

I'm a traveling groom. Its someone who travels and stays away with horses they look after, like five-day shows, two-day journeys, etc.

You want a freelance groom, to come and do odd bits when you need them. They usually advertise in local tackshops and are heard about through word of mouth. You should find someone to help you with your horse at home freelance for much less money than what full livery would cost.
