Hi all,

Ok not strictly CR but frankly NL scares me sometimes!!

I need to travel my horse from Canterbury to Stow area - I reckon it will take about 3.5/4 hours in my old Disco (R reg). Now the question - do you think this is too far in a trailer? I have a nice big Ifor 510 and she's only 16hh so has plenty of room.

I've never driven more than about an hour away from home and she's my homebred, who again has only gone a maximum of 1 hour in a trailer before.

I was thinking of maybe using a professional transporter, but again was thinking of costs and also that she's never been a lorry.

Am I just worrying needlessly? Do people regular travel that far in a trailer??

Thanks x

I sometimes drive for 5/6 hours, but with atleast 2 stops to stretch my horse's legs. But 3/4 hours shouldn't be too bad, your horse will be a bit stiff after the trailer ride though.

We've done several 3-4 hours journeys in the trailer with no problems. After about 2 hours we normally stop for a little while and offer water but don't unload as we don't want to risk having problems with getting him back on!

I've gone from Kent to Devon in a trailer and have been fine. A good few rest stops for water, etc, but didn't take them off as not really safe to do so at service stations imho. They are good travellers, though - I think that makes all the difference. Also, got a good couple of days rest at the other end.

Hope your journey goes well

Thanks everyone - you've all really put my mind at rest. She's an excellent traveller so hoping I won't have any problems!!
Again, like I said - huge thanks for all your responses - really made me feel a lot better.
