Very excited - picking up a 2nd hand ifor 505 on Saturday to transport my neds. Its got an ali floor with rubber matting.

Do any of you put shavings or straw on top too, or is it better to just leave it as is? Many thanks

I have a 510 with wooden floor and rubber matting and I don't put any bedding down but my horse is very unlikely to wee while traveling. If I had an ali floor I wouldn't worry.

I have a new Ifor 505 with an aluminium floor, and I dont put anything down! Always pressure wash it out after use though!

I have had my Ifor williams trailer with a metal floor for about 6 years now and never put any bedding in. My horse ALWAYS wees in the trailer, normally soon as I load her but the week all drains out the back as soon as we start the journey. I don't find it makes it slippery without bedding and I just hose it out after use.

I'm with MoonWalker - my horses tend to have really sloppy poo in the wagon and shavings helps keep everything together and cleaner. Makes it easier to sweep out at the end of a journey.

I dont put anything down. If a horse is usually messy travelling then Ill put down a little some shavings or straw just at the back (where he'd poo) simply to stop the matting getting slippy. Otherwise, I travel just on matts. Very easy to clean, I just sweep it out after Ive been anywhere or if theres a real mess then I just pull the matts out and power hose them.

i dont put anything down, got an ifor with a aluminium floor and mats, and never had any problems, its easier that way cos at the end of the journey you can just hose the box out, instead of having to remove wet bedding
