I am travelling one 15hh and one 16hh in an Ifor trailer. Does anyone do this without that metal mesh that separates them at their heads? If that makes any sense??
I only usually travel one horse but am now taking two on loan from a charity, they do live in same field and get on well together but do i risk travelling without something at the front to stop them potentially bickering???

What do you guys do?

I travel two horses all the time i dont have the mesh to stop them bickering and my two bicker, just make sure they are tied up short enough and then all they can do is pull faces at each other, plus they soon start muching once you set off.

I always used to travel two horses in a trailer and it was a very old Rice with no head guards but did have a full to the floor solid partition and they always got tied up reasonably short with hay and we never had problems - usually by the end of the journey they didn't want to be separated (even if the didn't like each other before & usually now matter how short the journey was !!).

I often travel two in my trailer, one 16hh and one 15.2hh and dont have the mesh (although I have got it in the garage). They usually share one haynet on one sidie and then share the other one. They don't really bicker and there are no problems at all.

The two we used to travel together bickered really badly, so spent a stupid amount on the mesh and its useless!!! They can still get there heads round it and fight so don't use it any more as it takes up space (and don't have one of the horses any more)!

If they get on/are friends I would do it but if there was any bickering or dominance issues with them be careful. I put my mare and her adult daughter in together and mum's very dominant. I think she may have threatened her daughter (as usual) and the daughter slipped and sat down in the trailer. I think this is when she injured herself and has never been right since. Be warned!

Yes I took the head partition out after my irish twit got his headcollar buckle stuck in it and had a spacky fit on the M25............... more related to my nag but not had any issues after that!

We travel all 5 of ours in the lorry with nothing betwen the heads, as long as they are tied up as short as is safe it is fine.
