Just for short journeys annd only with the saddle on, I always travel fully tacked up when going hunting though, as I am fully aware that there is no way he would stand still long enough to get tack on at meet or parking! I always take the stirrups off though.

We do for hunting, especially with my first pony who I hunted. He would go loony the moment he came off the trailer so it was safer. Occasionally we do if we're running late, and if the horse is silly we'll often put on the bridle on in case we need to do anything.

always for hunting, but short journeys usually. and girth done up tightish to ensure doesn't slip in transit and cause panic.

I ticked only with a saddle, but really wanted to tick more, yes I do, but only for short journeys. George travels well, and it is in a horsebox (I wouldn't do it in a trailer),there is always a cover or light rug over the saddle to protect it. I only once travelled him with bridle on as well, we were off to our first hunter trial and I knew he would be excited and i was very nervous. As a precaution he travelled there with no haynet to prevent getting caught up.

yes, he has previously been rather erm uptight at the beach and its not the best place for a loose horse obviously so tack up at home, its only about 15 mins away. I will prob travel tacked up for hunting too as will be on my own.

He is a fab traveller and never moves.

The mare has never been travelled tacked up and never will be, she is not the best of travellers so it just wouldnt be a good idea.

Often travel with a saddle on with its saddle cover and a fleece/Thermatex (temperature depending) over the top and boots under his travel boots if we're going somewhere particularly exciting. Then just bridle in the trailer when we get there and off we go. Never had a problem with this arrangement. Wouldn't ever travel bridled as I a paranoid about him catching his head in 'something'

No never ever.
Even loathe to put in trailer tacked between classes after I went back and found he had snapped his bridle one day . He has also snapped a headcollar when standing in and he is not a stressy horse just must rub when he is hot.
So no would not risk an accident or expensive breakages!!

No never!

neddys are good at the other end to be tacked up in the lorry even though they get excited they know, that if they fidgit it takes longer to go out and play!

No I haven't, but I do know people who do. I suppose it's not ideal but for safey reasons but i guess there are worse things to do.

Always travel tacked up for hunting, they seem to know where they are going when they have their legs washed the night before... would have no chance tacking up at a meet as they just want to unload and get going.

i have travelled fliss tacked up a few times...
it was not a good idea as she obv felt cramped the 1st time and so the 2nd time wouldnt load well and had a 2.5 hack home... so i wont be doing that again
but i do see the benefits with things like hunting or if ur in a lorry

Yes we do only when hunting!! Don't think its a case of horses having no manners and not standing still, Its case of being over the top excited!!

No, never.
I will however tack up if in lorry or put bridle on in trailer before taken them off-just as an added bit of control when 'disembarking' at venue.
I'd also never say anything to anyone who did travel tacked as its each to their own and at the end of the day they know how their horse handles different situations.
No right or wrong to it just personal preference.

I haven't as LC is fine to handle, and whilst the Dizz is good to travel, I don't think she's at the stage/age where it would be a good plan for her.

If we did travel tacked up, the irons would be looped up on top and secured and there would be a rug/sheet over the saddle. Not sure about bridled, I suppose it would depend on whether the horse was a serial head rubber or not.

Did it to go hunting, and when the pony was in a parade. The latter, I was merely getting dropped off/picked up, so there wasn't the time to faff about with getting stuff off the trailer, and there wasn't really anywhere to store things at the venue. I hid his fleece under a wheelchair ramp!

Have done in the past with sensible ponies and always when hunting but I wont with my current boy. I cannot trust him not to something horrendous to my saddle and I never ever travelled with a bridle on. I always boot or bandage up at home as that saves time though (and then travel boots on top) - does that count?!

I don't travel with tack on when I go for my lesson as I can tack up when I arrive no problems, it's safe to get him out in just a headcollar and put his saddle and bridle on there. But if I was going hacking and would have to unload him in a public car park I'd travel with tack on as I'd be too scared of him escaping at the other end if I tried to tack up in an open space! I would tack up on the back of the trailer but there isn't alot of room.
