Hi, anyone have a horse that doesn't travel well with a central partition?

I've taken the central partition out my trailer as my young horse wasn't loading well.

He's now loading much better but I have noticed after a couple of short trial journeys one if his hinds is shaking (the one I can see...maybe the other too -not sure.)

I'm driving super slow and careful and he isnt moving about once we are out the yard. He doesnt seem especially stressed. So I wonder if as - he's standing diagonal - he just hasn't worked out the balance and is putting too much effort into it?

Now he might have done the same with the partition in but you wouldn't see as easily.

It seems most horses travel better without the central partition as they have more room to balance, but do some horses just not get on with the set up?

He's sound as a pound and only 4 so I dont think the issue is lameness, but he will not be strong yet.

Thanks!

Can you try him with a partition now as he has travelled a bit. Can you move the back of the partition over to load an put it back once he is on..
Yep, I can try again 😀 Just a bit reluctant I guess as it took 2 hours to get him on 2 weeks ago and I've got it down to 2 mins with daily loading 🙈. But agree trial and error is the only way to get an answer x

I have a difficult traveller who also appears to be worse without a partition whether it's a trailer or box. Trying out different scenarios & hoping to get an answer atm.

If they are staying still and balanced then I wouldn’t worry about it as it will take some time to learn their balance evenly and how to shift their weight to balance. Ultimately if there is an issue they let you know by not loading or coming off in a sweat/state. If that’s not happening then I would keep going for a few more weeks. I think we underestimate how hard it is to balance in a trailer especially as most don’t have much suspension unless you get a European one.

Thank you! That's really useful insight x
